Teacher training

The teacher training programs offered by MoveMe are run through the Wellness Connection - a studio based in Hout Bay under the superb guidance of Catherine Wilkinson. As part of the Wellness Connection Teacher Training group, Celeste is one of the most qualified yoga teachers in South Africa. She has a 500 hour Advanced Yoga Teaching qualification, so you can rest assured that the quality of information and teaching is of the highest standard. The main focus on this comprehensive course is alignment, anatomy, and injury prevention.

Our emphasis is on teaching intelligent yoga; training superb yoga teachers who are then able to understand yoga anatomy, yoga poses, and individual needs; enabling the teachers to create intelligent sequences; and helping each and every person grow in their yoga practice.

Course outline

Yoga practice

You will develop a strong practice, both in class and at home. You will be able to demonstrate, well, all postures to intermediate level, and advanced postures determined by you as an individual.

Intelligent yoga: anatomy & pose knowledge

You will develop extensive anatomy skills specific to yoga – you will understand the anatomy of poses as well as alignment, injury/weakness modifications and prop use. You will understand a minimum of 100 poses in depth and be able to teach those poses to all individuals, of various levels of yoga, fitness and injury restrictions.

Yoga styles

We teach alignment based vinyasa flow with an emphasis on instruction to help you and your students explore many poses. But we love all yoga styles. We teach vinyasa but we borrow from all types of yoga. If it works intelligently we will use it in our sequencing in class. You will be taught a wide range of yoga styles: ashtanga; vinyasa flow; alignment based flow; pregnancy yoga, and an overview of other styles including iyengar and bikram

Teaching skills: Sequencing and teaching a class

You will be guided to an accessible understanding of yoga philosophy, how to simplify complex concepts and how to use yoga philosophy in your daily life and in your classes.

Yoga and psychology

We will explore psychological aspects of the teaching yoga as well as the personal psychology of you, the practitioner and the teacher.

Mindfulness and meditation

We will explore mindfulness tools to be used either by yourself or as a teacher. Breath work, focus work, restorative yoga, chair yoga, propped yoga will be practiced.

Huge fun, embodied learning
